On July 26, the postseason seemed like a sure bet for the 2010 Clippers. Columbus led the International League West Division by 10 1/2 games and had spent the previous 3 1/2 months playing Secretariat to lagging rivals in Indianapolis, Toledo and Louisville.
The Clippers were good and didn't have to look at their 64-40 record to know it. They had thrived even though the parent Cleveland Indians had, as expected, plucked top prospect Carlos Santana from the roster on June 11.
