Columbus Civic Theater's Patron's Choice production-- selected from a field of five plays by patron votes-- opens at the Civic on Thursday, November 3rd. D. L. Coburn's "tragicomedy," The Gin Game, takes the stage in less than two weeks' time. Set in a retirement home, The Gin Game introduces Fonsia and Weller, residents at the home. Fonsia has only just arrived; she meets Weller and they start up a conversation. Weller invites her to play the card game gin, which she does. The conversations they have over their ongoing game are the focus of the play. By turns funny, sad, and even shocking, their discussions run a dramatic gamut as they peel away one another's layers of defense to reveal the people beneath.
Tickets are available online at the Civic website, and reservations can be made by phone at (614) 447-PLAY. Visit our Page on Facebook.
