Columbus Civic Theater is proud to present veteran Equity actress Kerry Shanklin in the role of Agnes in our production of Edward Albee's 1967 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, A Delicate Balance, opening February 16 at the Civic.
A seasoned actress, Shanklin has appeared in this play before-- notably, under the same director! Bo Rabby directs this production and a cast of skilled performers, including Ben Gorman as Tobias, Danielle Mari as Claire, Gregory Kimbro as Harry, Britt Kline as Edna, and Shanklin's own daughter-- and a talented performer in her own right-- Abby Dorn as Agnes and Tobias's daughter, Julia.
Agnes and Tobias maintain a tolerable, if not ideal, life at their home, which includes Agnes's alcoholic sister, Claire. But chaos threatens their domestic order when friends Harry and Edna show up on the doorstep one night, asking to move in, and Agnes and Tobias's daughter, Julia, returns from her fourth failed marriage. Agnes and Tobias must decide what are the limits of duty to family and friends, and what they must-- and must not-- do to maintain the delicate balance of their lives.
This promises to be a powerful and moving production. A Delicate Balance performs Thursday through Saturday nights at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm through March 11 at the Civic. Located in Clintonville at 3837 Indianola Ave., at the corner of Blenheim Rd., just south of Cooke. Ample parking. Easy access from I-71 via the North Broadway or Cooke exits.
