New City Council Members Appointed for Service

The new Councilmembers are Michelle M. Mills, who is President and CEO of St. Stephen’s Community House, and Zachary M. Klein, Deputy Chief of Legal Services to former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray.
These two appointed Councilmembers will run for public election in November to be elegible to keep their seats beyond the interim. Additionally, council president Ginther, council member Hearcel Craig, and Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman will be running for re-election.

GOP Candidates Announced for Mayor & City Council

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the Republican candidates for this year’s Mayoral and City Council elections have been announced. The candidates for the race include:
* Matthew Ferris for City Council
* Alicia Healy for City Council
* Joseph A. Healy for City Council

Libertarians Seek Signatures for City Council Ballot

The race is on for control of City Hall this November with Democrats and Republicans already lined up and ready to square off. But local Libertarian candidates are still struggling to get on ballot. Potential candidates Mark Noble, Robert Bridges Jr. and Andrew Ullman are required to have a total of 1,000 valid signatures from Columbus voters before the deadline of February 2nd to be eleigble to participate in the primary this May.

Genaro Garcia acknowledges that his wife is better at this part of politics than he is. "Would you like to sign a petition?" a smiling Hilda Garcia asks a woman hurrying into the Whetstone branch of the Metropolitan Library during Thursday's snowstorm.
"My husband, this guy right here, would like to run for City Council in Columbus. He needs 1,000 signatures to get on the ballot."
