What a shame that a few knuckleheads could ruin an open access event for the thousands of people who were there for a fun family-oriented experience, not to act out their personal dramas in public.

Summer in the city. Time to reeducate the miseducated

I guess it could be read as either one. The problem with short unclear statements. ;)

"few knuckleheads"
"one or two"
lmao.
why not just call them neighborhood residents?
it was a gang of punks that live right up the street.the cops chased some of them right to their frigging house.

It's thugrats like that that are making OTE/FP look like the little (Insert War Zone Here) from what is in the news. We can't let these hoodlums destroy our society. We as citizens need to FIGHT BACK.
Last year, I saw a couple of hoods running from the cops at Broad & High after the RW&B fireworks.
We can't let these festivals be breeding grounds for the lowlife scumbags and hoodlums who think that they rule the streets. They don't rule the streets.

Life near OTE and Franklin Park is no Bexley and is far from its manicured lawns. I can appreciate people who live there, but one in having neighborhood pride cannot be ignorant to the danger still in the surrounding areas. They still have a long roe to hoe.

On a positive note, my family went their today and thoroughly enjoyed this festival. First timers. Now this is up with Ribfest and Arts fest to me. What an amazing food court. I think I want to learn how to play that crazy hackysack volleyball game as well. Unfortunately I am in my forties and arthritic.

I actually moved to Franklin Park recently after having lived in Franklinton for the past 8 years. Then this shooting at the park kind of let the wind out of my sails. I think festivals these days just need a lot more security, unfortunately. Even comfest seems out of control compared to what is was a decade ago.

The heat kept me from coming back today. But at least it will be around 70 (and not 94) for the Arts Fest next weekend.

I also wouldn't call this "a shooting" as someone remarked.

You put enough people in one place, and something bad is bound to happen on occasion. It doesn't matter if it's Easton or Dublin or Franklin Park or Downtown or Goodale Park or anywhere else. These types of incidents occur.
I'm doubtful that another similar type of event is likely to happen at Franklin Park again anytime soon.
Residents of the area should be more concerned with keeping their homes secured and valuables out of their car and other similar types of measures taken just about anywhere.
There's really no precautions to take against this kind of thing when attending a festival. Other than maybe don't join a gang?

Though my mother-in-law felt it was necessary to call and make sure we weren't wounded in the crossfire. I think this pushes the envelope of 'any publicity is good publicity'.

Things back to normal as Asian Festival ends
By Allison Manning

Patrons sipping drinks, waving fans and taking in performances at the Asian Festival yesterday weren’t overly concerned about a scrum that had shut down the festival an hour early on Saturday night.

It was a awesome event I did not make it back to photograph the second day due to the heat and a heck of a sore throat.
But I have to give all the performers mad props on being able to perform in those conditions with all those layers and costumes on. The acts were so energetic I don't know how they did it.
