One of my favorite festivals of the year, The Columbus Asian Festival, is rapidly approaching. A reminder to the festival faithful, and a plug to all festival virgins, it will be held at Franklin Park Saturday, May 26 thru Sunday, May 27, which is Memorial Day weekend. Hours are 10am-9pm, both days. If you go early, you can catch some of the many things going on that weekend, like cookouts, pool parties and Shadowbox's outdoor performance of Woodstock: Back to the Garden.
There is much to see, do, buy and eat, so I prefer to get there early and get to the food stations before the noon and afternoon crowds, and to beat the heat if it's hot like it was last year. Late afternoon under the shade trees of Franklin Park is pretty cool, and relaxing, if you have the time.
A list of activities with timetables should be listed on their site in the coming days. Their website is run by volunteers, as is the festival. They are cheerfully accepting volunteers in various capacities, and I think Andrew with Pedal Instead needs volunteers for the bike corral.
