I paid $2.05 for a medium at Caribou.
I like Snarf's idea - get a French press for your desk and let everyone else fend for themselves. I guess I'm a libertarian when it comes to coffee. That's what I used to do with my field coffee press (steel thermos with press built in). It was the only way I could get decent coffee at the office.

I keep a drawer full of coffee, french press, single cup filer and filters... and still hit coffee shops from time to time on the way in, out, or in between.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion,
It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed,
The hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning,
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

The AM cleaning guy makes the coffee and I really like that all I have to do is wash my cup and I can be caffeinated. The system works pretty well, but the occasional nudge is sometimes needed. Thanks for your help! Here's the most recent nudge.

and the last one

As a coffee snob, I was reluctant to accept the convenience of the Keurig because I care about the taste factor so much. BUT, after trying one out at Lucky 13 and at the paint store, I was really impressed with the taste each time and thought it would be a great idea for the office. Some of us went in on one together and we each buy our own set of "K-Cups." I love it- zero mess, fast, quality coffee, no politics. There is a ton of variety, including teas also. Only setback- k-cups are somewhat hard to recycle unless you tear them open and compost the grinds.

http://www.keurig.com/It's been my experience that as soon as someone makes one of those "flavored" coffees the thing makes totally disgusting coffee until totally cleaned out by running it a bunch with blanks.

flavored coffee should be banned from the universe

Why not just "suggested donation $X"?I agree. If there is a cost associated with this, unless subsidized, I'd get a good idea what the cost is and post it. I think most people will appreciate that it isn't the $1.49 from McD's or $1.39 at speedway, particularly if it is good coffee. If people don't chip in enough, then stop serving it until you identify the free riders. No one likes a free rider. Just a thought.

http://www.keurig.com/I felt the same way about them. They have reusable cups but they're really expensive.
