Coda begins production, but no movement on Columbus battery plant

The company that wants to bring an automotive-grade lithium ion battery plant to Columbus has started producing the cars that would use them. Coda Automotive Inc. announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show that it started production on what will be its flagship sedan. But plans for bringing the battery plant to Columbus’ east side are on hold while the Los Angeles-based company waits for the federal Department of Energy to decide whether it will loan it $400 million to $500 million for the project.
