Club Ice was mentioned as being "for sale" about a month ago. Looks like it is now up for auction this Friday. A photo emailed from a friend:

Anyone want to buy it?

Didn't this place just win "Best Place for Hip-Hop" in the ALIVE! readers poll?

Despite recent run-ins with the city over allegedly rowdy clientele, Club Fire and Club Ice reign supreme among "Alive" readers as the hottest spots for hip-hop. With performers like Cam'ron, Kid Capri and T-Pain taking the stage last year, the next-door Downtown venues, open Thursday through Saturday, showcases some of the finest in the industry. House and guest DJs keep the packed crowds moving when there's not a live act, and appearances by Lil Wayne, R. Kelly and Jay Z make it a great spot for star gazing.
AUCTION
March 5 @ 2 PM
ONSITE
Downtown Night Club being sold ABSOLUTE - NO MINIMUM BID
40 E. Long is between High and 3rd Ave
Great Location
We are selling the business with all equipment and liquor license. There are 6 bars with equipment, Sound Equipment, Flat Screen TV's , Walkin Cooler, Ice Machine, Outdoor Patio with Furniture and more.
The buyer will assume the existing lease and receive all assets free and clear. The seller will consider financing the purchase..call for terms.
My two cents, this location has done a decent job with keeping the people coming but I think over the past years, this location is somewhat fading away. I think its time to lay the rest the concept of nightclubs in that area and just put in a business or two and see how that works out.
I could be wrong but only time will tell what will happen with that area.
club ice is the new wonderland.
"No Minimum Bid"--so, if I show up and I'm the only one interested, I can get this thing for $10, eh?
I wonder how much longer they have on their lease agreement. That is a liability. License and equipment has value though.
What type of establishment would be interesting enough to place here? What type of club/bar? Maybe a dive? Or just scratch the thing altogether and start a new concept? What is Columbus lacking that could be useful here?
Could Long St. be the next candidate to be made 2 way?

Well that's what I'm saying, the whole location is a PITA, but a good deal on that much sound and kitchen equipment and license could be enticing for someone. Provided there's not 3 years left at $5K a month, lol.
Maybe next place that goes in can come up with a better name than "Ice." Is Mynt taken? Oh wait...
How about M? Damn...

Nope that would be Rich St, which makes no sense whatsoever. Maybe Mr. Brown or Mr. Kelsey can explain.
Judging by the surrounding night spots I could see this turning into a gay nightclub, but they'd probably want to buy Club Fire too.
the liqour license that they have there alone has to be worth around 75k
Much as I hate to say this, I can't see good things coming out of a gay club next to Fire.
CU Clubhouse?
