There is a legal agreement is place with a deadline of July 31st. Fines could be assessed from that date.
The owner has contracted with a demolition contractor. The demolition permits for the building were approved by the CAC on Aug 5. Currently, work is being preformed in preparation for demolition.
City code requires that notices be posted on the building for at least 5 days prior to the actual demolition.

ok, so now I'm really confused. It seems like one day they say there is a plan in the works to save the building, the next they are tearing it all down. Just saw this article in This Week where they say demolition is immenent:

Demolition notices were posted on the Clintonville Electric buildings yesterday, Sept 21.
The demolition permits were approved by the CAC at their August meeting. Contractors have been on-site for the past few weeks completing work in preparation for demolition. That work, including asbestos mitigation, is now nearly complete.
Demolition of the buildings is slated to take place next Monday, Sept 27.

There has been an effort in the neighborhood to save the Theater. I have supported that effort with a small donation a signiture and some phone calls to the city. If it can be saved and reused (soon) I don't see any reason to tear down one of the few interesting buildings on that strip.
That being said, something needs to happen on that corner. I believe it's holding back progress from North Broadway to the Hudson area stretch. With several of the current business moving in the near future, we need some momentum and a big project to draw attention to one of the cities great neighborhoods.

Historical society creates museum fund

The Clintonville Historical Society has established a fund to create a museum, and board members want it to involve preservation of an historic building in the neighborhood.
At least one of them, Alan Woods, is still holding out hope that building might be the old Clinton Theater on North High Street just south of North Broadway.
