Anyone see that new show Rookie Blue on ABC last night?
Not sure I'd watch it if I had to pick between the good fall/winter/spring series (serieses?), but for summer I'll certainly add it to the TiVo to record.

Next time, don't chase them off. Keep and eye on them while you are calling the police. No doubt-- call 911 if you see someone trying to break in somewhere. Having a posse of Columbus's finest ride into the neighborhood with close air support is something to behold (and something the bad guys won't soon forget).

Do you smell that? It's manure, son. Nothing else on the world smells like that. I love the smell of manure in the morning.
There was a rash of break in and attempted auto thefts in this very same district last night. One of the vehicles was mine which the aholes actually got into and started before my alarm went off and shut the car down. The guys ran off and the cops were called instantly as 2 personal vehicles were hit and at least 5 more ovbious break ins in site. About 20 min later 4 males teens to early 20's come from the same direction as the ravine behind white castle as in similar stories. I watched this group case houses and cars for about 4 blocks before I returned to my car in hopes the polices were near. When the cops finally did show up hours later they stated that they had just pulled 2 very innocent people off a COTA bus because they just got the call from dispatch.
I must say it was a way worse respone time then I expected, but the info stream and how delayed it was makes me think that anyone could get away with any crime in Clintonville. I could walk to the sub station in 3 min and yet it took a car 3+ hours to arrive. To say that I am dissapointed would be a major understatement!
We might as well get used to shitty response times. They have revised the patrol districts and I also hear that they have one-man units now so when a situation calls for two men, it takes two patrol cars. I'm not sure what we can do about this though...maybe just be smart about it?
Thanks for the update.

one-man units have been the norm for a long time now. One thing you can do about it is to stress to the operator when you call that it is in progress and that you are watching the suspects and stay on the phone giving updates. That sets it up in priority.

It might be even better to suggest you're about to head off to recover your property from said thieves whilst heavily armed. That usually brings the boys in blue running.

Right-- I've never seen a two-officer car in C-ville in the 10+ years I've lived here (unless it's a wagon that I've called to come and pick up a bike left in the ravine).
And a "for sure" on the "in-progress" keywords. If you see something in progress, don't wade through the "por Espanol, marques dos; the following tones are for the hearing impaired; all operators are busy" ACD thing they have on 645-4545-- call 911. Describe the people you're seeing, the vehicle, what they're doing, where you are, what vehicle you're in -- keep talking with details and don't hang up until you see a cruiser or hear the whoosh-whoosh-whoosh of the cavalry overhead.

Attention all moo-nits, 2-11 in progress

As a "fun" aside: I was one of the "very innocent" people that was pulled off the bus this morning. According to the police, the call came in from some woman just a couple of minutes before. While it was an inconvenience, I'm glad they took the time to run down two "desperadoes" (the cop's word, not mine) who matched the description.
Also, just for good measure: Innocence is a binary state. You can be innocent or not innocent (guilty); you can not be "very innocent."
We live in N. Clintonville near the Park of Roses, west of High. Earlier today (around 3:15pm - Sunday May 23rd) a white SUV pulled up into our driveway. The dog started barking, and my husband intercepted a caucasian woman at the front door (three other people were in the SUV).
She fumbled around for a minute, then asked if our car (parked behind another car near the garage and not visible from the street) was for sale. It isn't. Then they left.
License plate started FEU-.
We called the police and submitted the license plate number. Could just be alarmist, but we've all heard stories of the homes in Clintonville being cased and/or entered even while the residents were home.

South or north of the park? Also, what kind of SUV? It's very important to get the make/model because thieves switch out license plates frequently.
