Classes at clayspace
We are currently registering students for our next session of classes which begins the first week of July. Classes meet once a week for seven weeks. Registration includes open studio time between classes to practice new skills. Open studio time gives students the opportunity to proceed at their own pace. Each session concludes with a student gallery show, class party, and raku firing.
Planters to Platters
Mondays 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Summer session: July 5- August 16
Fall session: September 6- October 18
Instructed by clayspace artist Emily Hutton, this seven week class uses basic handbuilding techniques to create functional and decorative ceramic pieces. There is a strong focus on design as well as surface decoration and glazing. $195 per student includes open studio time through February 26.
Beginning potterÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s wheel
Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm
Summer session: July 6- August 17
Fall session: September 7 Ã¢â‚¬â€œ October 19
This seven week class covers basic throwing and glazing techniques. Class time includes discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on instruction. Students will learn how to throw cups, bowls, and plates, surface decoration with texture and colored slip, make handles and lids, and more. $195 per student includes 16 lbs of clay and open studio time during the session. Each session ends with a class party and student gallery show.
Intermediate potterÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s wheel
Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 pm
Summer session: July 7- August 18
Fall session: September 8- October 20
For potters with basic skills and some experience, this seven week class offers students the opportunity to improve and expand on their techniques. Class time includes demonstrations for new project ideas and individual instruction. Students are encouraged to explore their interests and work at their own pace. Surface decoration with colored slip and carving will be covered along with thrown and altered forms, lidded vessels, and glazing techniques. $195 per person includes 16 lbs of clay and open studio time during the session as well as a class party & student gallery show at the end of the session.
Thursdays 6:30- 8:30 pm
Summer session: July 8- August 19
Fall session: September 9- October 21
For students at all level of experience, this seven week class presents exciting projects for forms constructed with clay slabs including vases, platters and boxes. The class will also cover surface decoration, texture, slips and glazes. $195 per person includes 16 lbs of clay and open studio time during the session.
