Edit: I guess this happened a couple of months ago, I hadn't heard anything about it though.

What? Ain't no thang.

He'll be out March of '10 probably anyway, but this idea of still having a football career seems a bit far fetched.

Clarett reconsiders request for pardon

…he had asked for clemency so that he could earn money as a public speaker and resume "the possibility of a professional athletic career,"
That would set kind of a weird precedent, wouldn't it?

I don't think he should get a pardon. He got what he deserved.

And bandying about the prospect of his "earning money" and "possibility of an athletic career" as a reason to let him out early doesn't even come close to sounding like a person expressing remorse or responsibility for his actions. It's all about him, what can he get, what can someone give him? I think athletic talent is a curse for this guy, he cannot conceive an existence that doesn't involve getting paid big $$$ to play a game. That attitude is what got him into this whole mess, and he appears not to have learned a thing from his experience.

Exactly right. I'm sure this is why the request was withdrawn for hopes of early release. Still though damage done.
The scene from Shawshank Redemption comes to mind. Where Morgan Freeman's character drops the facade and gives the parole board real answers to their questions.

Ha, for me the last 3 minutes of Goodfellas come to mind…where the main character finally comes to terms with the fact that he's gonna have to get a job and live like a "schmuck" the rest of his life…just like 99% of everyone else on the planet.

he was a great running back at OSU in 2002. he was a key player in helping win a national title in football. i watched the game with friends. it was a lot of fun.
then it became clear that he was a thug. then he went to jail for thuggery. now he wants out so he can make money playing football.Posted 2 years ago # -

You leave my kitchen out of this!
If the Governor spends half a second even considering this, I will lose all faith in just about everything. Including in Jim Sweeney, and no one wants that.

LOL Clarett has the balls to say "It takes a lot of courage and character to keep going on after what I've been through." What a piece of shit- and what's funny is that he'll always be getting into trouble. Just like OJ he'll end up back in prison, just the way the universe intended.
