I think he will definitely have to take a different route in the College of Hum Ecology. Perhaps he can take the financial route because anything dealing with children is a closed door to him (or so says my School Law class last semester).

Although, I thought his grades were also poor while he was there, so I am surprised OSU--esp, the HEC let him back in. I have an undergrad HEC degree from OSU, and when I left, they had really changed the provisions for entrance to the programs there. I tried to get into grad school there for over 2 years (it's a sad story-I am at Ashland now-it's cool), and I was denied.

So, I have to wonder how that decision was ultimately made. However, I AM a huge believer in second chances, and I would love to see this become a tale of redemption. Good Luck Maurice!

I had a college prof in my masters program who served prison time for murder.
So...he's just gotta teach older folks I guess...

I have to give him a lot of credit. He is actually trying to pick up his life from before it went wrong. He's breaking half a dozen stereotypes and putting himself on a track that must be Very hard to do.

I don't think anyone would have thought he would do this 3 years ago.

And great kudos to OSU for giving him a second chance. They have minimal upside and a whole lot of potential for a downside here.

Honestly, good for Maurice. I wish the guy nothing but the best luck, because I fear he's going to need it. It is hard enough for recent OSU graduates to receive work in this economy; you can only imagine how much tougher it will be for a guy with a prison record. The good thing for Clarett is that he appears to have a lot of friends in high places that are willing to stick their necks out for him (namely his former coach, who deserves a lot of credit here).

My main worry in this situation is not that Clarett will get in legal trouble again, but that he won't be able to avoid making himself a distraction for the football program. You just know that ESPN is waiting with bated breath to do a one-on-one interview with the guy (probably during the week of the OSU-Miami game) that will dredge up all of the negative crap that arose during his time with the Buckeyes. Hopefully, the man has gotten more media savvy since he was younger, but I'm afraid that a grade-A attention whore like him won't be able to resist this.

He's ineligible to play college football because of his brief stint with the Denver Broncos so no football scholarships for him.

I think he may have been dismissed from OSU the first go around...he upset a lot of people.

Personally, I would start fresh somewhere else. There is too much pressure at OSU for him.

Yep, that's how I see it too. I know I can get pretty cynical about this kinda stuff, but I wish him all the best.

For me, he did his time for his crime. Even though I don't agree with what he did, if he is serious about life and living a "right path" life, then he shoud go for it. If he slips up, he can only blame himself. I know that people are saying that maybe he should have gone to another school but I look at it like this.....at least he wanted to continue his education which is hard for most people to do once they haven't been in school for a while.
