CityMusic presents Award Winning Miró Quartet
At Via Vecchia Winery on Sunday, December 4
The Miró Quartet, first prize winner of the prestigious Coleman, Fischoff and Banff competitions as well as the Naumburg Chamber Music Award, will present a concert of string quartets by Haydn, Glass and Brahms at the Via Vecchia Winery, 485 S. Front Street at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 4. Doors open at 12:30 for lunch. The concert is part of the CityMusic Sundays series.
Hailed by the New York Times as possessing “explosive vigor and technical finesse”, the dynamic Miró Quartet, one of America's highest profile chamber groups, enjoys its place at the top of the international chamber music scene. Now in its second decade, the quartet continues to captivate audiences and critics around the world with its startling intensity, fresh perspective, and mature approach. Founded at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1995, the much sought after quartet has performed at many of the major concert halls and music festivals throughout the world.
The Miro Quartet will perform Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 33, No. 2, “The Joke”, by Haydn, String Quartet No. 5 by Glass, and Quartet in C minor, Op. 51, No. 1 by Brahms.
CityMusic Sundays take place at Via Vechhia Winery in the Brewery District. Concerts are casual by design, taking a fun, interactive approach to great music where the audience sits at tables and can enjoy food and beverage with friends before hearing the performance.
