City council OKs record $497 million bond sale

The Columbus City Council approved the sale of a record $497 million worth of bonds last night to finance capital purchases and projects that range from new garbage trucks to a water reservoir.
Voters approved the sale of about $450 million of those bonds in 2008 as part of the city’s capital-improvements plan. City Auditor Hugh Dorrian said the bond sale will be the largest in the city’s history.
