buy the pumpkin butter from the folks that live in the houses on the main drag before enterring the festival
it's less expensive.
This is a great festival! http://ohiofestivals.net/?p=136
The Pumpkin Show is my favorite festival of the year.
This is my favorite fall festival.
For the last three years Tenzo and I have been going.
A lot of the people there remember Tenzo and give him a treat.
Somehow he remembers who and where they are from the year before.
Both our favorites are the pumpkin ice cream

Alas, my best friend is in Chicago with my wife.
That's a great pic of Tenzo! He's adorable!
The Pumpkin show is also my favorite.
To quote hugh59 from a couple of years ago: "This pumpkin is now the ultimate power in the universe. I suggest we use it."
I couldn't agree more!

The giant pumpkins are coming. The Circleville Pumpkin Show starts today with opening ceremonies and the weigh-in of some very gigantic gourds.

Can't wait for this. We're planning on heading down tomorrow morning sometime. Will be the 5th year in a row for us. :D
No school today = no brainer (for parents whose schedule isn't determined by other's thirst). ThaMissus is down there with ThaKids. Hope they find a dessert that travels well.
The g/f and I have gone every year for the past 10 on thurs but with the rain as crappy as it was yesterday we skipped it for the first time in our relationship. Then I remembered the pumpkin food thread on here and we decided to have our own pumpkin fest in Columbus. angry baker vegan pumpkin French toast, those awesome iced pumpkin cookies from giant eagle, pasta with pumpkin sauce & sausage, pumpkin pizza from clever crow at circus, swordfish over pumpkin ravioli from bonefish, pumpkin lattes from staufs, pumpkin creme brulee & pumpkin cupcakes from piece of cake, drunken pumpkin drinks at surly, pumpkin love dessert AND pumpkin love martinis at betty's, pumpkin amaretto ice cream from Jeni's (although I prefer her pumpkin 5 spice) and then some pumpkin fudge that I don't even remember WHERE we found it.
I missed the people watching, and seeing the giant pumpkins, but it was a helluva good last minute substitution...
Consumed this year: Pumpkin Burgers, Mini Pumpkin Donuts, Deep Fried Pumpkin Pie (new!), Fried Pumpkin Blossoms, and uh... French Fries. Good stuff! :D
The Deep Fried Pumpkin Pie sounds like a mess from the state fair, but was actually more like a Hostess Fruit Pie served hot. Yum!
We took Friday off and went down and had a fantastic time.
I like some of the non-pumpkin stuff down there, you have to go off the main drag to find the mom and pop homemade goodness.
Like Granny Franners Homemade Chicken and noodles, sounds simple enough, chick and noodles but when done w/fresh noodles and home made lumpy potatoes that simplicity can be great!
We also enjoy Bennet's fried fresh perch sammies, always good and fresh, just on 2 pieces of white bread and tartar and that's all you need!
