Hi board! Longtime lurker, first time poster here. I love this site for all the insight it gives me on great places to eat, shop, and live in Columbus. Unfortunately, I may be moving to Cincinnati. Does anyone know of a similar site there? I haven't been able to find one through a simple google search. Alternatively, can anyone here give me some advice on cool, young places to live, eat, and shop in the 'nati?!

I have heard really nice things about Honey.
http://www.honeynorthside.com/And I think I ate at this place, Melt, and it was good. It has been awhile though, so maybe I have the name wrong.

http://www.building-cincinnati.com is a great source for new development. On that page there are links to the best cincinnati blogs on the left hand side down a bit.

I've always thought that the CU concept could be taken to a different city through an existing blogger that currently has a single user contributing content like building cincinnati. I can't think of a user driven site in Cincinnati like CU. So you might have to surf many blogs to get similar information CU consolidates nicely for us. Start C(Cincinnati)U when you get there!

I want one for Cleveland, too!

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but the boards at WOXY can probably help you out. It's a indie Internet radio station based in Cincinnati, with a lot of Cincinnati residents on the boards.

"Mt. Adams, Clifton and Hyde Park are a few urban neighborhoods that come to mind."
I've never lived in Cincinnati, but I've visited those areas and they are really cool. I have a friend living in Hyde Park right now and considering how much he hates the 'nati, he really does like his neighborhood a lot.Posted 2 years ago # -
UrbanOhio.com is how I originally found my way here. As the name implies, it addresses all of Ohio, but I found they had a lot of Cleveland and Cincy threads.

I second Urban Ohio as a site that gears mainly to Cleveland and Cincy.
Rant: As a long time lurker on UO, I believe the site can get an attitude towards Columbus for some reason, which personally has kept me from posting there. Maybe it is the positive/growing metro tag that Columbus gets which creates jealous emotions. Of course, could be the sure fact that most members are in Cleveland and Cincy. On a side note, Walker does a great job representing Cbus there.

Thanks. UO looks possibly interesting, but the format is confusing to me! Its taking too long to figure out what posts are new, and I've lost interest. . . maybe later.
Any other suggestions are welcome!

Boy, it might be good if someone forwarded this thread to the folks at the other forums.
For reference and education purposes!

Why is this? Does Columbus have an attitude / arrogance problem? At least from the perspective of Cleve and Cincy?

Just an FYI, UrbanOhio is most definately not "anti-Columbus" by any means (the site's owner, who I know...well...as I eat for him everyday, lived in Columbus for 8 years and knows Walker). Sure, there are forumers on there that may not care for Columbus (notably, Cleveland and Cincinnati) but that doesn't mean the site itself is "anti-Columbus" (hell, look at all the Columbus photos I...err...they put up on the main site!) It just needs more Columbus forumers to 'represent' to establish a base regarding projects, construction, etc (but then again, that's what CU is for, which I...err..UrbanOhio consider a sister [or is it brother?] site).

Oh, and regarding information on Cincinnati, it is best to go to UrbanOhio's Travel & Relocation section and post your question if you want a more direct response.

Most people I know who live in Cleveland or Cincinnati prefer Columbus over their city; they see Columbus as a growing city with more young people. Maybe its coming across as jealousy on the message board? I really don't know, I'm just speculating.

Not jealousy, just miseducation. From what I've seen (and keep in mind, I've lived in Columbus for 8 years and from Dayton), Cincinnati and Cleveland forumers (or in real life) tend to base their opinion of Columbus on the outerbelt (Easton, Polaris, farms near Grove City or Delaware County) or the parking lot-happy downtown and thus dismiss it to be "suburban." They never truly see the wonderful inner-core urban neighborhoods of Columbus. Plus, keep in mind, Columbus is going to be Ohio's largest metropolitan area in the not-too-distant future so it's hard for those two other cities to "accept" Columbus' role, particularly in this age of consumerism and lack of "old-money." But they do not realize times change and Columbus will develop a better appreciation for the arts as it continues to grow within the old core as well as metropolitan-wise.
Basically, they need to be educated on what Columbus has, what it will become, and enlightened on the beautiful parks (Goodale, Franklin, etc), neighborhoods, and most of all...THE FOOD!!!

yeah, I think that was intentional ;)
