ALIVE review from last week
Posted 1 year ago # -
We went to Cibo last night for the first time and the place was packed. They have live music on Tuesday night and a fireplace.
We had arancini (fried risotto balls) and calamari for appetizers, caesar salad and a roasted beet/goat cheese salad. The arancini were delicious.
The best of the entrees we tried was the house-made gnocchi with venison ragu, but it was hard to choose what to order.
It was a good meal, with a pleasant ambiance and there seemed to be some reasonably priced wine choices.

We were there for Christmas Eve dinner. The Chianti Braised Beef Short Rib was one of the better things I've had in a while. I wasn't as thrilled with the wine markup, so I'd love to know what you selected, Hungrywoolf.

I ordered a bottle of Montepulciano recommended by the server that was $32 on the menu, and when our bill came the wine (which we had all enjoyed) was listed $26.
Not as reasonable as somewhere like Alana's that offers state minimum pricing, but there were quite a few wines priced in the 20s.
Here's the menu (inc wine menu) http://www.cibocolumbus.com/menu

Its not too often I leave my neighborhood for dinner out in the suburbs, and for Italian restaurant in a strip mall at that. However, this may have to be a new regular occurrence. Cibo is the real deal. I feel there are a lot of average Italian restaurants out there. This is not one of those. This place serves dishes that are memorable to say the least.
Highlights: One of the best antipasta plates ever, with multiple fine Italian cheeses, and cured meats. And their wood grilled Caesar salad served out of a Parmesan cone.
My wife had the Italian grilled trout, which was simple and amazing. I had the seasonal special, Penne, pancetta, peas in an amazing truffle sauce. All the food we had tasted very authentic with attention to detail. We loved it.

Saturday will be the last day open for Cibo. Owners sold to former da vinci/vittoria chef. Two week down time.

Whoa. That's a sad, fast turnaround.
