Chick-fil-A supporters send message, eat chickenChick-fil-A restaurants across the country were packed with supporters Wednesday for 'Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.' In the wake of CEO Dan Cathy's views against gay marriage, and the subsequent boycott from gay-rights advocates, eating a Chick-fil-A sandwich has become a polarizing political statement.

I wonder how these people will be perceived in 20 years, let alone right now. It's amazing how few people know anything about how similar battles played out over other minority right's issues. I'm sure some people thought it was a fantastic, noble idea to go out and support that business that refused to allow blacks to eat there. Religion can be such a huge fail.

being gay =/= being black
Ridiculous comparison.

Only for people who either don't understand history or don't like the association because they don't like gays themselves. The situations have plenty of relevant parallels even if they're not exactly alike. The fight for equality is one such parallel.

That Wendy's has since pulled their sign down. Wendy's head of PR has issued this statement:
This is one independent franchisee's personal opinion. We are proud to serve customers of varied races, backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientation, with different beliefs and values... Bearing that in mind, this franchisee has decided to remove the messages from his restaurant signs.
How did the LGBT community screw up? So what if some bigots ate their lunch at this chain? The long term effect will be less sales ... LGBT won;t come back and the bigots won't keep coming.
Cheap, did you finish your crow from the other night? Do you ever shut up?
The long-term effect is that gay marriage goes through nationwide, no matter how long it takes. This is another one of those parallels with the Civil Rights movement. They won, and so will gays.

Cheap, just curious, but are you making arguments in support of CFA because you believe they have the right to believe and practice whatever they want, or because you support the actual message itself? Or both?

i support well run campaigns that don't rely on panderring politicians and attacking privately run companies.
i cant stand bitch sessions, like this chick fil a episode, that just feed the networks
i have no agenda concerning gays, never gave a shit, never will.it's not my business.
religious whackjobs make me puke, but i admire them because they are slick mf'ers.
not everyone can convince total strangers to give them money, but plenty evengelists do.
the great thing i like about this battle between gays and the religious whackjobs is the fact they could be standing next to one another, and get along fine, until one of the idiots opens their mouth.
This makes no sense on so many levels:
Geoyui - I should have been clearer. The ad in rotation in the right corner running against the article makes no sense, not the article itself.
