Artists, framers soon to lose longtime supply store

Cherrys’ Art Center has been a haven for area artists since the 1800s, selling supplies and offering a place to kibitz. Noted folk artist Elijah Pierce can be counted among the former customers. But by the end of the month, the store — located in a three-story brick building on a lonely stretch of Spring Street — will close. Its owners say it’s time to walk away.
