One of my out-of-town friends is getting married in Columbus this summer, and she is looking for a decent place, reasonably close to downtown, where she could get a mani-pedi for under $50. I'm not one for nails, so I don't even know where to start. I think places like the Max salons are going to be too expensive (and honestly, I don't think it's realistic to get both for under $50, but I thought I would throw it out to you all before breaking the bad news...)

I'd be interested too... but if this is for reals, then I might as well be doing my own nails. Quality mani-pedi combos in NYC ran $20 for low end and up to $25 for high end. ARE YOU FOR REAL????
That said, the Charles Penzone salons have basic pedis for $34 and basic manis for $28. My bro had a gentleman's pedi a couple weeks ago and was SEVERELY disappointed.

Not sure how close to downtown the place needs to be but there is a nail place at Graceland shopping center that rocks. I get a spa pedicure and span manicure for a grand total of $42.

It's called Q Nails-- a friend of mine goes there, and she says that they do a good job.

I'll have to find out how much time she has to get up to Worthington, but that sounds great! I will also take up Angel and Anne on their suggestion about Aveda.

Not downtown, but not too far. I just went for my first ever mani/pedi over the weekend at Golden Nails in the new Gahanna Creekside development. Open 7 days a week, 414-7880. $40 + tax + tip for mani/pedi treatment.
Being a total newb to the experience I enjoyed it and my nails still look great, (especially toes, they're HOT, I can't stop looking at them), but I may just not know any better. It was the 3rd visit for the 8 year old in the chair next to me so she was obviously impressed enough with the service to frequent often. She seemed to have very discriminating taste, as anyone in her profession would. The word "Justice" was stamped on her rear so I can only assume she's a judge, or attorney perhaps.
Family owned and operated. Very sweet attendants. They stick you in this awesome massage chair while your feet soak, very soothing. Quick service, I felt very pampered and glamorous when I left. I highly recommend it.
Wherever you go have fun! BTW, I was reading up on the hot trends in nail color currently. Blue or orange shades are in now. You know that was someone's idea of a joke before Vogue picked up on it and made it a reality.
