I'm looking for an inexpensive place for a decent Italian meal. I feel like I must have overlooked some place because I cannot seem to find this anywhere in Columbus! Any suggestions?

Arlington Pizza & Meatballs makes some mean meatballs. You can get a meatball sub for $4-6. Cafe Bella on High might be an option for more variety and a more sit-down kind of place.

Meatball Monday at Basi Italia is a tough deal to beat.

It looks like Arlington Pizza& Meatballs may have closed. Tommy's on Lane Avenue & maybe Tony's on South High might be OK...??

Carfagna's Kitchen

+1 on the Carfagna's Kitchen recommendation, especially if you get either Meat Heaven or the Chicken Marsala (sub marsala sauce for marinara or alfredo on the pasta).
Wouldn't recommend their sandwiches or pizzas, though, and the rest of the pastas can be hit or miss, especially the filled pastas.

TATs early bird?
Butch's on Gender, if you are up for the small drive, isn't bad price wise for the lunch menu. Food is awesome!

CMH Gourmand has been raving about this place in Gahanna. I'm not sure about prices but it sounds really good.

Scali's in Reynoldsburg has a few entrees around $11-12. Family owned, and there is a Mama Scali.

I'll have to 2nd the Scali's recommendation. Homemade Italian food by Italians, it doesn't get any better. It's a bit of a hike east, right @ the corner of Livingston and 256, but SO worth it!
That being said the TAT right @ Livingston and James is really good and really reasonable too. Both are great!Posted 3 years ago # -
I have been to Salvi's for brunch and for dinner a few times. It really is excellent. The Pasta Salvi is really good.

It is a chain, but got to show Franklinton some love: Spaghetti Warehouse.

They used to advertise a Wednesday dinner special where you could get a plate of spaghetti, bottomless soup or salad, bread, and drink for $5. They don't advertise it anymore, but Anne & I have asked for the deal and they've still honored it on Wednesday nights. It's been awhile since we've done that though, so YMMV.
