Its pretty scary that Chase's online banking was down for about a full day with little/no explanation.

Whats worse is that I paid bills online this past weekend, the money came out, but now is back in my account and there is no record that I ever paid them. One was due on Tues...

I'm currently on eterna-hold trying to get some info, and was wondering if anyone else has had the same issue or gotten any info out of them.
I'm amazed they haven't put up any info on the internet for their customers by now.

you can get an office sized safe for a couple hundred bucks if you are that paranoid, it will survive most fires too

Some of us have been thru disasters before. Being prepared is just basic common sense and having some cash around is a good thing. Heck I carry a months worth on me almost all the time just due to my job. Beats the hell out of being at the mercy of a bank which is in violation of the law and can do whatever it wants nor does it care if it has your money or not.

also, i've heard burying it in your yard works really well too.

And keeping your doubloons in a wooden chest guarded by haunted pirate skeletons.

i was able to get back on finally...

but what i was mad about, was that chase's website said for a day that it's online system was down for 'scheduled maintenance.' really? no.

That's a strange problem. I've used Chase's web bill pay for years without a problem.

As for it being down for a day, what's the big deal beyond annoyance? There's a million things that could have caused it.

Ha! During the whole 2000 scare a friend of ours said the only thing he would stockpile was guns and ammo because "then my neighbors will share their food and water" ;)

uh... it's a website. It's not even a 'run on the bank' or anything. Isn't it a little early to start worrying about hoarding guns, food, and water?
