Heard this ad on the radio this morning: "The fourth of July is coming up, and what better way to celebrate than by drinking Bacardi and watching the fireworks?"
Ah yes, watching Chinese-invented (and likely -manufactured) fireworks, while sipping a Bermudan rum that came to symbolize the economic and military oppression of Cuba by its nearby foreign powers. What better way to celebrate American history?

Ironically, a group of us two years ago celebrated with a pot of mussels with Muscadet and some beer-braised and grilled brats with Lambrusco. Bringing it back in this year by smoking some pig.

Yeah I really liked that one because you just know that the scrappy underdog capoeira fighter who was trained by an old groundskeeper at his job is going to end up knocking the rich snob owner of the evil capoeira team into that bowl of tapioca right after he wins.
