Here is a draft list of Goals and Objectives for the organization!
Goals:
•Enhance the positive perception of public transportation in Central Ohio
•Promote increased ridership of public transportation, especially non-dependent riders
•Promote improvement and simplification of the public transportation system in Central Ohio
•Encourage public engagement and input to promote desired improvements in the transportation system
Objectives:
•Create and support events which promote the use of public transportation
•Advocate on behalf of public transportation to officials on the Local, State and Federal levels
•Use traditional and social media to promote awareness and use of public transportation
•Increase awareness of the “bike n’ bus” program
•Encourage attendance of COTA service change meetings and other forums for public input

Cbus Transit's August Meeting will be held on August 17th at 5:30 pm at the Cup-O-Joe Downtown. We will be discussing upcoming events including a #21 Bar Hop and a transit forum. We will be finalizing our logo, mission statement and goals as well as creating a steering committee. Come, join and be a part of making transit better in Columbus!

We at Cbus Transit have been searching for cool ideas pertaining to transit from around the country to discuss at our next meeting. I thought I'd share some of the cool ones on CU.
One very cool project is out of Oakland, California. One grad student spearheaded a streetcar plan which is now being studied by the city. Check it out at http://www.OaklandStreetcarPlan.com

Another project worth noting comes out of Cincinnati. Using Kickstarter.com Nathan Wessel created a better transit map of Cincinnati and printed 30,000 copies to hand out. Check out the project at:

Hello All!
I wanted to give an update on the 8/17 meeting and some of the events that are upcoming. First off we are proud to announce that we will be partnering with COTA and Cafe Brioso to run a booth on the Brioso patio during the Columbus Independents Day festival on Saturday September 17th. We need to man the booth between 9am and 7pm so if anyone is willing to volunteer please let me know. The time split the time up into 2 shifts, just let me know which one you would like to work (9-1:30,1:30-7). There may also be some free beverages to those who volunteer!
Next up we have the Cbus Transit 21 Bar Hop on Friday September 23rd. The four main stops have been chosen as High Beck Tavern, Mojo Lounge, Short North Tavern and Barrel 44. We are also looking for bands to promote along with the tour, so if you know any please let me know.
We are seeking out individuals who are interested in serving on our steering committee as well. There will be a limited time commitment (probably once a month). If you are interested please let me know.
As a special note I want to make sure that you are all aware that there will be several meetings in September for public input for COTA's Long Range Transit Plan Update. I encourage all of you to attend and express your opinion! You can find the times and locations here: http://www.cota.com/Public-Meetings.aspx.
