Publisher of area weeklies plans to file for Chapter 11
The parent company of Suburban News Publications and Columbus Monthly magazine announced yesterday that it will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
American Community Newspapers told employees that it intends to continue in business. “Like many companies, we are confronted with a challenging operating environment and will continue to look for ways to improve our cost structure and bring our operations in line with the economic realities of today,†the company said in the statement. It indicated employment levels, pay and benefits would remain the same.
