I'm sorry to hear that
He scared us a few years back with kidney stones. Last year he was having issues (again) with his back legs and we found out he had no real kneecap to speak of in the one leg, birth defect.
He has been pretty much living with my parents since I went to college, but was always my shadow when I came home. He'd follow me from room to room at my parents. Came to live at my new apartment last year and with the leg issues went back to my parents. We just moved him in with me again about 2-3 weeks ago, along with his sister, while my parents finished up some remodeling work. He was going to stay once they were finished and his sister would go back (my sister's cat). I'm just glad he got to spend his last few weeks with me. I kind of knew last night he was getting short on time and curled up on the floor with him till about 6 this morning.
Companion animals really get to be a part of the family-I know a lot of people out there don't understand that bond, but it's truly special.
