I saw they changed management but didn't realize they were changing their name.
Cachapas instead of arepas, eh? And it's run by Carlos' brother-in-law who also specializes in Venezuelan cuisine? Sounds very promising. Can't say I miss the old place. Bland food for office workers looking for quick sustenance.
I also see Deli in the Alley is turning into a diner called The Sandwich Stop.
Oh, and Ah Chihuahua! is now Mexica.
Oh, nice. Must have missed that announcement. ;) Thanks for sharing the mini-review! Will have to check it out eventually.
their breakfast foods are really good. I'm normally a breakfast sandwich kinda of guy. their egg, bacon, and cheese on croissant is really good.
you can call ahead your order if you are in a hurry. the number is the same as the old place, 221-8311 49 N High St (corner of Gay and High)
Too many Sandwich shops!
But I can't wait to try the new place where euro was sounds sooo good.
I don't like the fact that it's keeping the old name and look. I've been hesitant because of that.
the name changed to "Casa Sason", I don't think they changed the awning yet though.
the people that work there are great, that is perhaps the biggest factor in why a place keeps me coming back. Nice , courtious, friendly. i hate going to a place where I'm in some cattle line and get rushed out the door.
Much of the menu is still the same, but they do it with their own style. the menu is changing over time. they've already made some changes.

I tried the arepas today. They were good, but I'm wondering if Downtown can support two Venezuelan restaurants.
If the regular long lines at El Arepazo are any indication, I think two places will probably still do fine. ;)
hours?
They open early (around 9 I think) and close by 3:30, so like an expanded Arepazo. I seem to remember 6 days a week.
I've eaten here a couple of times since they switched management. The chicken wraps were really good.
Tried it out and the only non-sandwich offerings are apparently daily specials. They make a pretty good arepa, but the original menu is virtually unchanged. I don't get the whole gradual shift to another menu. Is this Euro Cafe or Casa Sason? That's only going to turn off customers expecting latino cuisine only to find run of the mill sandwiches and El Arepazo is just down the street with much more tantalizing dishes. Disappointing.
Anyone try this out lately? I'm sick of the regular routine.
This place good? I'm meeting my girlfriend's Dad tomorrow (she's from Venezuela) and was planning on going here. (also taking him to the Clippers game tomorrow)
If you are meeting your girlfriend's dad for the first time then do -

No disrepect to Casa Sason - but El Arepazo is the better of the two choices - get there early. Casa Sason is still a good choice.
We actually know both of these guys that own the two restaurants.
man, now I want an arepera.
Do they fry, boil or bake theirs?
I've never had a bad meal there, but CMHG is correct, Arepazo is better. CS is easier to get in and out. I forget the name of what I had last time I was there, but it was excellent. It was some kind of cornmeal pancake with corn in it and tons of toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro sauce, shredded beef. It was VERY good. they still keep some of the items from the old restaurant on the menu, but I always get the newer Venezuelan selections.
