Jennifer Higdon’s colorful, accessible, and ethereal Blue Cathedral is one of the most-performed contemporary orchestra works of our time, written by one of America’s best contemporary composers. This will be followed by Carl Orff’s brazen, evocative, and explosive musical showcase, Carmina Burana, that will feature the Columbus Symphony Chorus and an exceptional trio of guest vocal soloists.

being a teenager when "excalibur" came out, i grew up a little too obsessed with orff's carmina burana . . . to the point that for at least a year of my life, i was convinced that ray manzarek (of the doors) had done a really awesome take on it, with his progrock-lite version i found at a coconuts or peaches once:

luckily i'm sure i'll never listen to that album again . . .

I worked on a shoot for the St. Louis Symphony this past Spring where I had to listen to the Carmina performed live 5 times in 5 days and never got sick of it. It is truly a masterpiece!
