Anyone have a good place in the downtown/German Village area? I just need a stupid little thing looked at, if I knew anything about cars I could probably do it myself.
Thanks.

i go to Grismer for basic maintenance.
heard the place on parsons between main and broad is good.
you also have the firestone and goodyear downtown on 3rd(I think)
what's the problem?
The fan doesn't work on any setting but high.
I think this is the issue.

sounds like an easy fix. but without really knowing the problem throwing parts at a problem can be a waste of money.
You might think about investing in a repair manual and some tools, in the end when comparing costs of buying tool/parts/manual you will come out ahead.
most resistors are under/behind the glovebox. you can also go to the autozone or advance auto websites and look up the parts diagrams and manuals for your specific car and print off the instructions.
edit: I know how to repair/replace/rip one out of a Ford Bronco, so if you have that vehicle I will do it for you. in the Fords you get to it from the engine bay by taking out the blower fan and motor.(easier than it sounds, if i can do it anyone can, well, most people could probably do it)
also if you want to practice on working on cars you can go down to pick N pull and find a car that is like yours and go to town! but in this heat is is miserable, too hot and you'll get really sweaty. I wouldn't call being frustrated, hot and sweaty a good time, but in a way it is a good time, having the right tools for the job will make all the difference.
and completing the job even when you don't have the right tools is even more gratifying!

+1 for Grismer.
They'd probably be a good choice for looking at it and if it's not something they want to fix, could recommend a place for you to go.
I hear the little place at Oak and Washington is good. Wihl's I think is the name.
I won't be going to Grismer anymore. Not a shop I trust anymore. i did read a promising article about Alternative auto in the short north gazette today though. i think it's on 5th ave.

I haven't heard anything recently, but I've never heard of anyone having a good experience with them.
I went to pick up a car that Grismer had "fixed" several years ago...it didn't start when I got in, so I popped the hood and found about 10 random parts of the engine just sitting there loose.
That was it for me.

here's the link I read. I have no personal experience with them http://www.shortnorth.com/AlternativeAuto08.html
though this was unsettling, I need the suv looked at, i think i broke a hub.
What’s she thinking when Ford Explorer settles into one of her bays?“Ka-ching!†Cozad said.
Anyone know about Clintonville Auto Repair or Payne's Service?

Grismer is semi-okay, but they jacked up the prices hardcore on a simple job for one of my female friends.
I dislike Firestone and Goodyear for the same crap.
Place I always take my stuff to: Wilson's on Grant Avenue.
Those guys are awesome. They don't B.S. anyone, they don't call you and tell you that you have xyz "wrong", they never do more than what's asked, AND they fix all of the CPD vehicles.

I just changed this out on my grand am. every manual tells you it is behing the glove box, so after disassembling the dash and not seeing it, I found that you have to get to it from the engine bay side of the heater box. Stupid manuals :x
I have been taking my car to Tong Da on Indianola for years now. They are honest and do a great job - Larry Corollo is the service manager and has always taken great care of me. They are also an Angie's List award winner year after year. They specialize in Toyota and Honda, but I am sure they work on all cars.

I'm going to take B's Honda there to have her door lock fixed someday. seemed like an import only place to me.
