Nope. One more year of running the 5k. We'll blame wedding planning as to why we couldn't stick to our regimen...
'09 is the year!

Thanks for the reminder of what a failure I am. I blame the excess of booze and lack of sleep over the last 2 months for my bailing out. Srsly, y'all don't let me not do Columbus in October. Kick my butt outta the bars!!!

I was training for this and the nashville marathon (which is at the end of april) but i hurt my leg a few weeks ago and haven't been able to run since. GOOD LUCK though! I ran it last year and it was fun.

i could do it but i don't understand why. running bores the hell out of me. i get to 3 miles and i want to quit. playing sports is so much better.
no offense to runners. i know you are fanatic about it.

i want tooooo!!! i started a thread a month ago to see if there was anyone who planned on running it and wanted to be training buddies. i guess no one wanted to be my training buddy.
there's a 10k coming up at the beginning of june and i think it will be a good training race for the spirit of columbus half marathon at the end of august. (oh wait, there are two half marathons within a week of each other in august...).

There's a bunch of training clubs in town. Very unlikely you'll stumble upon people training at the same pace as you so that's the best way to go. And you'll meet new people with a similar interest!! Win-Win

I just decided two weeks ago to run this and was looking for someone to run with.. but if you want to train for some later races I'm down.

damn I wish I had known about this 2 months ago and started training earlier for the 5K. I am only up to running 2 miles on the treadmill and haven't even tried running outside yet.
Please keep me updated on any other races through the summer. I am sooooo new to running (ie had never ran a mile in my life, even in junior high I would make an excuse so I could walk)!!!

Go to Active.com and sign up. You can get monthly (maybe even weekly) emails about what's going on in the area. Most of the area's big race promoters use this site for registration so it's the best condensed list of what's going on. You'd have a hard time finding a weekend in the spring/summer where there isn't a race going on :)
Also, Fleet Feet Sports and FrontRunner both have mailing lists you get on.

i'll do 5K's this summer if anyone wants to do those. i run slow though.

I started training for this but then life (and record snowfall) got in the way. I did the marathon in the fall and have decided that 26.2 miles wrecks the body too much. Since I bailed on the half, I am planing to do the Gary Smith 5 miler in Worthington, on 5/4. I plan to do another half this summer. I have never tried a training group, I am just too much of a loner.

Angel, I'll do it with you :) I run REALLY slow like 5 mph if that is OK. Also, we are both in Grandview so maybe we can train around the neighborhood together.

Totally down. Maybe once or twice a week so I can get a feel for road running again. Yes, I am a lame treadmill runner.
Good luck this weekend! Can we cheer you on? Wanna take a cool down jog over to Warehouse when you're done? : o)

I run but I've typically been a loner. I like to run through the city after work. I have a great route thats fun to do. I'm pretty slow and just starting out again for this year doing half of my usual distance.
I just cant do the treadmill, I need interesting scenery to keep me moving. :)

Good idea Somer! Thanks!!
Hmmm, on the other hand, I too am sort of a solitary runner. It helps clear out the crazies.

i ran yesterday and the day before, 3 miles in about 28 minutes so that should give you an idea of how fast i am.
i'm all for getting people exercising so if you are just starting out i'll still go with you! plus i'm not a huge fan of running so even walking is good for me. i've mapped out a 5-mile area around upper arlington that i do. i should post the website. you can map out anywhere in the country. hold please.
