So my favorite candle shop in Columbus apparently closed forever, so now I'm looking for something to fill that void. This question therefore goes out to those who were Paul Robinett candle fans: have you found anything in the Columbus area (or orderable online) that you've found makes a good substitute? My stock of Robinett candles is running a little low. :-(

I think they're open now, but since I'm not a candle person, I can't say for sure.

Really? I remember some talk a long time ago about that, but I figured that, given the Web site, that plan must have fallen through.
Bad marketing on their part if they forgot to change their Web site to reflect a new location--and left the "closed forever" in giant print there instead!

As far as I know the new location has been open. The real estate office moved out and they've got signage on the door.
Yes, that would be a huge #WEBSITEFAIL if that's the case.

No idea myself, but I saw a tweet yesterday from Crew player Robbie Rogers taking about getting a candle there complete with photo and an email address for ordering candles.

i believe they are now closed forever. The "new" location on High Street has been papered over.
I really love Candle Lab in Worthington. I bought a Muscadine candle there a few months ago; it was in my kitchen, open but unlit, and for weeks I kept thinking "why does it smell like grapes in here? I don't have grapes!" so, either I am a complete idiot (well...) or their candles are awesome.
One of my favorites is "Dad's Den."

Somewhat related, the Cardamom Cedar candles from Restoration Hardware are my current favorite. They also burn what seems like forever. Highly recommended.

We are available at Whole Foods and Beauty First locally; we use an all natural wax blend and steam distilled fragrances with essential oils. Long, clean burn time.

As a former employee of the store, I'm pretty sure it's closed for good. The signage on High St. was from the final Gallery Hop (June, I believe). Because the rental office had been vacated already, they let Paul use that space for a store closing party, and the signage was left up. The new restaurant going in on the corner was going to include the rental office space and Paul's shop.
Paul's younger sister was going to start selling a limited number of the fragrances online, but I don't know if that ever materialized.
I do really miss the shop - it closed because of space issues - the business was doing really well.

A.I. ROOT factory outlet downtown Medina. Stop in usually on the way back from a Cleveland trip. Best candles on the planet.

Ann, that's great to hear the candles carry on. You'll appreciate this bit.
Last Saturday night I was hanging with some "YouTube Celebrities". As you know, people making a decent living from creating YouTube shows.
Anyhow, I brought up Paul or Renetto and they were quite familiar with him and became ecstatic with mad love for Paul.
When I mentioned he had a candle line, I don't think I've seen blanker stares in a while and they insisted I was making the candle part up.
Maybe they haven't seen all his shows.

Thanks all for the kind comments.
@gramarye - we hope you're willing to give us a try. Here are the quick highlights:
We have two stores - one in downtown Worthington across the street from the Worthington Inn, and another on Grandview Avenue a couple stores south of Jeni's and Stauf's. We are opening our third store (with another Jeni's) in downtown Powell the first week of October.
We have 110 different fragrances of natural soy candles that we pour in the shop, and you can buy them pre-made ready to go. We have all the usual scents you would expect, but we also have some crazy ones as well - bacon, wasabi, kettle corn, cotton candy, yuzu, and burnt sugar just to name a few.
But the real fun (and what makes us different from all other candle shops) is that you can blend those scents together and make your own candles. You pick your blend of scents, then you pick your jar style and size, and pour your own candle. It takes about an hour to set up, so you can grab a bite to eat or grab a drink somewhere, and we will deliver your candles to you when they're set up and ready to go.
In addition to candles, you can custom mix a wide range of home fragrance products - reed diffusers, room sprays, linen sprays, wax tarts, oil for oil burners, and bath salts.
Everyone's nose is different, so this is a chance to get a scent that is uniquely yours. Come check us out, and find out how fun custom fragrance can be!
