NINTH ANNUAL SOUTH SIDE SETTLEMENT
HUNTINGTON BANK ARTS FREEDOM AWARDS
A CALL FOR NOMINATIONSSouth Side Settlement House and its partner, the Huntington Bank, announce that nominations are being accepted for the 9th annual ARTS FREEDOM AWARDS. These awards recognize artists whose work has contributed to improving the human condition in central Ohio. South Side Settlement House, a 110-year old neighborhood based agency, and its partner, the Huntington Bank, are committed to “creating a community of culture and concern, rooted in social and economic justice.†To that end, they select local artists and arts advocates whose work and life demonstrate a noteworthy commitment to elevating the human condition and promoting the social good.
The roster of those who have received this honor is stellar–including Aminah Robinson, Jim Arter, Loanne Crane, Abdi Roble, Arnett Howard, Mimi Chenfeld, Stephen Anderson and many others of equal stature. Last year noted artist and mentor Barbara Nicholson, and arts advocates Larry James and David Hetzler, received Arts Freedom Awards, at a gala reception hosted by the Columbus Museum of Art.
The public is encouraged to submit nominations. Anyone who wishes to nominate artists, performers, or arts leaders, who through their creative work reflect the social and human values of South Side Settlement House, may obtain information and guidelines for nominations by calling Mari Sunami (614-253-4332), by going to our website (www.ssshouse.org) or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Arts Freedom Awards, c/o South Side Settlement House, 310 E.
