Press Release:
Call for Nominations: 6th Annual Central Ohio Emeralds
Nominations are being accepted for The SWACO 6th Annual Central Ohio EMERALDS. If you know of an individual, business or community that excels in sustainability and green deeds, now is the time to nominate them for The SWACO 6th Annual Central Ohio EMERALDS. Each year, SWACO honors the best and most innovative local ideas in waste reduction and recycling during Ohio’s green premier awards program. This year’s EMERALDS will be presented Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at The Ohio Union, 1739 North High Street on OSU’s campus.
Nominees may be local businesses, institutions, communities, individuals, or students who fall into one of the following categories: Leadership, Small Businesses/Non-profit/Institution of the Year, Large Businesses/Non-profit/Institution of the Year, Good Neighbor, Environmental Education, Young & Green (high school students), and Community of the Year.
SWACO Executive Director Ron Mills believes The EMERALDS bring out the “best of green†in Columbus and Franklin County. “It’s both refreshing and encouraging to learn what our neighbors have accomplished when it comes to reducing our environmental footprint,†he says. “Many of our previous EMERALD award recipients have served as wonderful examples of how to get the job done. Their environmental commitment is an inspiration to us all. I have no doubt this year’s nominees will be as enlightening.â€Â
All 2011 nominations must arrive at SWACO by midnight March 18, 2011.
