The city's 200th aniversay deserves to be celebrated by visual communication. This April, the German Village Art League will partner with the Columbus Metropolitan Library to produce "200," a juried exhibition highlighting our fair city's bicentennial.
Artists are encouraged to create work which is inspired by "200." Suggested content considerations are not limited to, but may convey things like: a measurement of time, measurements of passage, places around our city, typographic expressions, growth and progress, technology, nostalgia. Join GVAL by creating visions of what the bicentennial means to you as an artist within our great city!
GVAL is honored to welcome as juror Richard Harned, professor of Art at The Ohio State University. Harned is a contemporary kinetic sculptor and glass artist. Harned trained under Dale Chihuly in the 1970s at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with other artists of the American Glass Movement, including Bruce Chao and Tom Kreager. In 1974, he established the Abstract Glass studio in Providence, Rhode Island.
