Just overheard some people talking about Burgundy Room possibly closing?
This would be unwelcome news if true. Hopefully someone can dismiss this scuttlebutt.

From what I've heard Cameron Mitchell is buying it and changing the name/concept.
That deal was dead before it started. He was even surprised he was supposed to be buying it. Unfortunately, rumors start and run quickly; this one had zero merit.
I have no idea if they are talking about closing or not. I will say this though; at the end of the year, a lot of business owners look at the numbers and see if it's worth going into a new year. With liquor license renewal due for the next year, I'm sure a lot of people are making sure they want to move forward.
I sincerely hope they remain open, they have the best beef carpaccio in town and is one of my top go to bars for girl's night.
Sounds like I need to use my gift certificate soon. I've always liked the Burgundy room. I hope this just turns out to be a rumour.
Agreed, I'd love to see them stay open. I've always liked BR, especially in the winter with their big fireplace. :)

Beef rollup?
Think I'm onto something?
I wish I had a slicer at home. I'd rarely use it, but would be so awesome to have. They're expensive!
I stopped in about a month ago to have a few drinks and a girl I was with started chatting up our server about the rumor. She said that they'd at least be open until the new year and then would potentially be closing. I hate seeing another Short North business go under, especially a place like Burgundy Room. I'd rather have a sole owner in that space, rather than another Cameron Mitchell restaurant......nothing against CM.
Oh, this would break my heart. This is my favorite restaurant in town, hands down!
bring back K2U.
Kent couldn't make the rent which is why they got the boot.
Bring back operators who can pull it all together!

i think it was the wood company raising the rent and that prompted kent to close. i think business may have been doing ok at the time but not great. the rumors i heard is that it was a real pissing match.
I agree bring back K2U - we just loved that place. Fresno and K2U were our favorite restuarants when we lived on Dennison - brings back good memories too. Another article in yesterday's CD on the parking situation in the SN again...maybe I'm not the only person that notices all the reserved meters and permit only signs. 10 years ago there was K2U, Lemongrass and Union Station in this block - period. Now there is Hyde Park, the Asian joint, Eleven, Marcellas, Mo Jo, Bernards, yada, yada. However, I do hope this is not true Bro! Burgundy room is something different than typical Cameron Mitchell commercial chain fare...
Just got word from friends who worked there that evidently they were informed via voicemail that they are all out of work effective immediately, and that BR will be closing, in one regard or the other.
I'll keep my ear to the ground for more.
Sad news, I was always a huge fan of this place, and despite some problems, I say without equivocation, no place in town had a better selection.
That is very sad news. I hope all the employees can find other employment quickly. I'm surprised they were not able to sell the business. From what I heard, it didn't sound as if the sales were so low that it couldn't have been turned around with a few changes.
