Buckeye Mela is an annual cultural and philanthropic event which is into its 3rd year! Organized by 4 organizations of the Ohio State University’s South Asian community, Buckeye Mela features a Dodge Ball Tournament, a Cricket Tournament, a Basketball Tournament, and Block Party featuring food and music, and Srujanâ€â€an intercollegiate South Asian dance competition. All the profits from the event go towards the Mid Ohio Food Bank to help feed the Central Ohio community. Srujan, the main event, will have 8 competing dance acts from different university’s from around the Midwest and the East Coast as well as 4 exhibition dance acts from OSU. The dance styles include: Bollywood, Desi Fusion, and Bhangraâ€â€all of which trace their roots to South Asia. Last year, Buckeye Mela was able to donate over $1,500 through the efforts of the student organizers!
