If you're going on the weekend, Sunflower Chinese Restaurant has really great dim sum. You have to be there when they open at 11am, or you'll be waiting a *while.* It's on Sawmill, fyi.
I live nearby, and there isn't much open for lunch near the zoo or powell that isn't chain-y or familiar (Applebee's, Bob Evans, City Barbeque).
One thing I do like that is very close and on the way to the zoo on Powell Rd. is Culvers. I'm a sucker for their butter burgers and cheese curds, damn tasty joint.
Edit - I just remembered last weekend my wife and a friend had the brunch at the relatively new Easy Street Cafe that opened in downtown Powell and were raving about it. They said the breakfast tacos were awesome, along with lots of the other breakfast and brunch options.

Sunflower is great! Another awesome option in the same shopping center is Anna's Greek Cuisine. I had lunch there this week and the food was excellent. They have what looks like a very nice Sunday brunch and if I remember right, it's under $20 per person.
Is Hellas in shawnee hills still open? right across the dam from the zoo.
there's also an el vachero up there.
thanks guys! i don't want to eat chicken tenders at the zoo food court again. :)
Two Mad Dogs is also down the road and has hot dog and ice cream goodness.
I like the brunch at Easy Street!
Sunflower is a great stop. Best dim sum in Columbus, I think. Hellas is still open and going strong, too. And that's really close by the zoo.
Just north of Sawmill and 161, there's also Sweet Clove Sunshine Cafe. It's a concept store for Honey Baked Ham, and they serve good French toast, omelets, and eggs benedict.
thanks everybody.
now i don't know which place to choose. :)
Scrambler Marie's off Sawmill Pkwy. Great seafood omelet if you're into those.
