I was really depressed to read in this morning's paper that Broadmoor Market was closing. I wrote about them a couple of years back: http://www.columbusfoodie.com/2007/12/17/scary-saturday-and-new-discoveries/
I'd make trips across town just for their WondeRoast rotisserie chicken. And their lasagna was to die for. Not sure where else I can get that wonderful chicken, but I'm going to look hard.
I think when we lose a business like this that's been around for 50+ years, we lose a little bit of our identity as a community. It makes me sad that there's no more room for the little guys out there because they can't compete in this economy. I'll miss it, just like I'll miss the myriad of other businesses that have gone belly up in the past year and are irreplacable for whatever unique item they had or person that ran the place.
Was anyone else a regular customer?
