I have to admit... this neighborhood name was a new one on me:

It's just a wooded entry to another Columbus neighborhood, but Morris Chisholm envisions so much more.

Chisholm, who has lived in the Brittany Hills neighborhood for decades, sees past the thicket on a hillside to a parklike area filled with ornamental trees, shrubs and perennial flowers.He sees a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.

Back when I was in high school, Brittany Hills was the place for up and coming black families.
Since that time the neighborhood has taken a turn for the worse but I suspect that was just a brief interruption. I bet they are primed for a come back. And if they can get that entry way improved that will go a long way.

Yeah, according to the article it sounds like they're working on getting the drug issues under control. Sounds like a pretty decent rate of homeownership still in the area (84%) which hopefully means a lot of dedicated people who want to continue to make it a better place to live.

"84% owner-occupied," that's pretty impressive. Does anyone know how that rate compares to other neighborhoods, suburbs, exburbs, etc.? The median household income of $43,311 doesn't sound too bad either.

Brittany Hills is a sub-neighborhood of North Central, which I consider to be the city's weirdest neighborhood, though I still have a couple others I've never really explored to date. The Brittany Hills Civic Association took action to kick out criminals in their neighborhood to prevent it from becoming an extension of the bad parts of Linden.

Aside from Ohio Dominican and the Idea Foundry, there's really no reason I know of to visit. There are some bars scattered throughout, but they've all made the list to get their liquor license revoked.
