The wait is finally over, Bristol will reopen Friday, July 31st at 9pm.

Friday, July 31st.
Opening Night / "Listen's one year Anniversary Show"
DJs: (9Star, Delcina..Listen Residents), Ororo, Plural, Placebo, Fabyan, Mike Salalmon, Jules - JR, DJ 5AM, MPK.
Brand new menu, including $3 Bristol Snow Cones.

I love some downtempo and some HOUSE music!!!

^^I hear that Scott. I'm really conflicted as to whether I'm going to enjoy the new Bristol or yearn for the slightly shady, colorful, yet always interesting old Bristol. I'm worried about the music catering to the pop-princess crowd or going ÃƒÅ“ber lounge with opium beats putting me to sleep. Bristol had a rep for good music. Loose that and loose your core clientele methinks. I don't know what the new business model is so we'll find out eh? The opening night lineup looks fresh though. I'll be there regardless since it's walking distance.

i haven't been to Bristol Bar in a very long time and i'm looking to see what was done with the re-opening. i just might have to swing up that way after i leave the Ohio State Fair that night after i see Keith Sweat (yes, i'm showing my age...lol) in concert. i'll be in the area so there is no reason why i shouldn't swing on up.

All I can tell you is what I am going to play. First, I DON'T TAKE REQUESTS, so there is no chance of me catering to the "pop-princess crowd". On the other hand, I think Bristol is a place that can be both lounge and house-funk hotspot at different times in the evening.

I will be doing straight up downtempo, acid jazz type stuff from about 10pm-11:15ish. I think that kind of music fits perfectly with the specific clientele that is at Bristol at that particular time in the evening; they are drinking martinis, chatting, and generally just getting their night started.

After that, we're picking it up a bit ... but ultimately ... like any good DJ ... I am going to play to the crowd's energy. If they show they wanna dance, I will make 'em dance. If they show they would prefer to chill and "sway" to the music ... I'm still going to give you house music, it will just be a smoother and lower energy brand of it.

For all the talk, there is really not that much changing about the atmosphere of Bristol Bar. Most of the changes are physical remodeling. While I am not the "official mouthpiece" of the organization, I think I can correctly say that the goal is to give the customer top notch bar service and the highest quality music in the city every night.

***Argonaut: BTW, I used that "U-Step" track in a Bristol Podcast mix I did mid way through last year ... just to give you an idea for the kind of house I play.***

If it's like it was "in spirit" but remodeled then call me a supporter. This is all speculation anyway. We'll see what is what the next few weeks. I'll be at Crystal Method then Bristol myself most likely. I will not be right in the head that night. If anyone has not seen TCM live do so, they are complete nutters and will blow your mind proper.
