400 E. 2nd Street is for rent.
I guess it's structurally sound now (?)!

what is BLD? Bi/Lesbian District?
and I gotta say, that is one piss poor advertisment.
The BLD was an arts/space that used to be at 400 E. 2nd. They had live shows, art events, etc.
I suppose it could be compared to old venues like the FireExit, or current ones like MiloArts and Junctionview Studios.
BLD had to close a few years ago because the warehouse it was in was to the point of being condemned and was unsafe.
I think some folks on CU had exhibited there in the past.

This was the big dirty space that the glassblowers rented, right?
I seem to recall going to parties and exhibitions there.
I miss Firexit.. So few people seem to remember them
I miss the 2nd avanue warehouse prior to it being BLD. There were some really fun events done there super underground style. Hell my 21st was there and possibly one of the most crazy nights of my life. In the more recent days of it being an arts space I can't say that I was too excited with it. The old lanlord didn't have any respect for art and was responsible for destroying some epic murals so his family could picnic and watch Red, White, and Boom. I like the concept of more underground style artists studios, but I say move on from that spot.
As for Fire Exit I was just hanging with some old school peeps over the last week talking about fire exit and how much the concept and venues are missed. At times I really wish that folks like Ed Luna and the old school production companies were still cranking out fun things to do.

I recall Charles Noel and Titonton Duvante tag teaming as "Black and Blue" and dropping all sorts of epic crazyness... Good times..
I also recall freezing my nuts off in there for some jungle party in the middle of February. Heh...

It's nice to think about how it would be fun to have a warehouse party, but they were a lot of work to put on and kinda sucked in a way.. Not to mention, the whole underground party thing got the lid slammed down on it pretty hard in the end. I remember that it was impossible to throw a warehouse party without a bust by the CPD. I know more than a few promoters that lost their ass on busted parties.
The Firexit parties were a lot different as they brought a lot of different people together. I liked that I could go to a Firexit and hear Indy rock, Techno and Hip-Hop, look at some art and see a short film. They were awesome, but also a lot of hard work. It helped that they had a lot of inexpensive/free space to work with for a long time.
Bacon Lettuce District?

+1 Ed Luna = awesome. It's a shame I didn't get to know him until the past two or three years.
best fire exit party was the one with launching our potato guns off the roof. Think that was 97 or 98.
to be honest I didn't go to any after 99 so there might have been more potato gun nights. The one I was remembering was after we ran out of potato's we just started firing balls of flames of hairspray at each other.
thread hi-jack off.

Watching Drastic, Dj Self and True Skills take turns once many years ago is a fond memory. I'm not sure what the status of that building was then, I think BLD. Whatever I'm a youngun.
When I went there... everyone called it the "art farm". Same place??
I saw a show there... it was a really cool deal...but I couldn't believe people lived in it. Crazy place...
Awwww I miss the old BLD space. I donated several kegs to their parties/events. My favorite painting is one I purchased at one of their silent auctions. That artist is living in ATL now I think& selling paintings for big bucks now! The halloween parties there were too much fun as well. Good times!
BLD just stood for "building", as I remember it. Damn place stole my youth, but, they were good times, indeed.
