I don't understand why they don't just rebuild it. The foundation is there. It connected Whittier St. on the penninsula with Mound street where it dead ends at the railroad behind miranova. I remember as a kid when the entire road was intact, but it was even closed then. The bridge over the railroad isn't there anymore. Now that the whittier penninsula has been redeveloped as a park instead of a wasteland, they should just rebuild it.

You would have to rebuild the bridge over I-70 and a connection across the railroad tracks in order for the road to connect to anything. The connection across the railroad tracks can't be a bridge because it would cut off access to Miranova's driveway. So you would have to convince the railroads to let you build a new highway-rail grade crossing. That isn't likely going to happen.
Besides that, it would be quite expensive with very little benefits. Motor vehicles can get to the park on other roadways. Bikes and peds already have a car-free connection 200 feet away. The main benefit I see is that it would shorten motor vehicle trips from Miranova to the park by about 2,000 feet. How much is that worth?

I agree. Get rid of it. It's just additional, needless infrastructure that the state can't afford to maintain. Let's put our $$$ in shrinking our road and highway infrastructure (future liability) and putting more $$$ into public transit (future asset) that will actually survive in a post-cheap-oil world.
