6am update - City Authorities intend to start refilling the pond this pm. Orders written. Guess we'll need to wait until 2012 to see fountain completed...

@KingLincolnUrbanEnthusiast
Where did you get this info??? I haven't been able to find anything saying an official decision has been made. I wish the Friends of Goodale Park had been more communicative regarding this project/process.

Putting merit into anything this person says is much like punching yourself in the crotch, repeatedly.

I hate that this project has dragged out like this with very few updates more than anybody...but it seems a little ridiculous to abandon it a week or two away from being finished...
The workers have been out there every day, but I can't really understand why if a couple guys are working on caulking/sealing there couldn't be another crew working on the plumbing/pump-installation. It just seems like a very poorly managed project and "weather" only worked as an excuse for so long. Here's hoping something happens soon!

Don't know if they are refilling it, but this has really dragged on.

Not a soul is working on it today...Have a picture from about 10 minutes ago, but have no clue how to post them on here. So much for kicking the workers in the pants. Maybe they can use this terrible weather as an excuse.
I've also heard multiple times that they need to allow certain adhesives/sealants time to dry, but that should not make any difference with the installation of the lights or pump that have yet to be started. There really is just no excuse for how poorly this project has been managed and I never would have contributed both my time and dollars if I thought it would be handled this way.
This could have been a very high-profile win for Columbus Art Memorial instead it has just been a consistent let-down. The good folks over at Friends of Goodale Park owe the community an explanation of why this has been so poorly executed.

Poor choice of contractors. Plain and simple.

Don't we have some engineers and volunteers in the CU community to finish this project? I'm not an engineer or a handy guy but it seems like most of the major work is complete, except the pump. What is the breaking point with these contractors?? What is the response from the Friends of Goodale Park on how long this project has dragged on?

Idk asking people to volunteer their time to install the mechanicals in a fountain is a pretty tall order if you ask me. Kind of silly really.

I hope it takes longer, and then the thing blows up and vaporizes the water in the pond.

the sinclaire media folks (ch 6 and 28 tv) are reporting that the city has decided against filling the pond and are pressing on with the construction.
No Independent confirmation on this that I can find.

I'm sure the SNBA pulled some political favors downtown with the City to get this last minute reprieve againsit refilling pond orders. This project has turned into a complete fiasco like the US Congress.
It will be interesting to see what happens next...Vickie Village drama for sure...
Feel sad for all my friends living on the park looking at this mess out their front door every day too...simply incredible!

In the last few days FGP has worked closely with Rec & Parks. The project, delayed by spring rains and recently by lighting delivery, will be complete in coming weeks. As a fixed-fee contract, funded by your donations and community grants, FGP simply could not spend more money to expedite its schedule. Finally, we apologize for not commenting sooner Rec & Parks asked to communicate with interested rental parties prior to public comment. - Jason Kentner, President FGP BOT
A full statement will be issues by FGP on our website GoodalePark.org later today.

So it was a fixed fee project with no fixed delivery date?
Who thought that was a good idea?Posted 1 year ago #
