I believe it is designed to be run during the winter so there can be" ice sculpture" when/if the water freezes.

This was posted Tuesday on the Friends of Goodale Park Facebook page:
FOUNTAIN UPDATE/OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
We are receiving quotes to make some modifications to the existing well to increase the water flow. These modifications should take care of the evaporation issue.Once the well is modified, the water level will need to be monitored for about a week or so.
If the well does as expected and fills the pond, we will turn the fountain on at that time. We hope to have the well work done later this month.
And lazyfish is correct. The fountain was designed to run continuously all year long. The "ice sculpture" will be reminiscent of the winter ice formation on an old fountain that used to be in another part of Goodale Park. There are a couple of really cool pics of the old fountain. I'll try to find some for you.

And what's the back up plan if it doesn't fill the pond?

With the recent rain, and below-100-degree temps, the water level in the pond has already risen. There is no reason to believe the well adjustment won't completely correct the situation.

It's simply inconceivable that anything could go wrong.

It would be inconceivable for there to be more than one leak. From page 11. Yes, I'm of Sicilian descent.
Down to a few kegs of Le Goodale Monstre. Saving one for the North Market Microbrew Fest and The Tavern is getting one for their local tap takeover next week. Get it while you can.

Do you know if we'll be able to sample Le Goodale Monstre at Barley's Ale House tomorrow after the FGP Volunteer Work Day? Looking forward to trying it!

Le Monstre will be in the Alehouse for at least a few more days.

I think I may have the only images of the fountain actually working!images,, hah, i had the foresight to possibly get the only *video* of the fountain working! I figure if the fountain never comes back on again I'll be able to sell it for,, what, a million or so? Someone just sold a picture of the Rhine for over 4 million, and that was a still shot without even a non-working fountain in it. Obviously my composition skills aren't as good as a professional artist, so I figure I'll lower my price down to something more reasonable.

Should probably mention, again, that once Rec & Parks does get the permit, I am not sure how long it will take them to do the work. Once that is completed, though, I do know it will be another week AT MINIMUM for testing, to make sure everything is working correctly, before the fountain can be turned on.
Even if the work is somehow completed this week, it probably won't be until AT LEAST the 3rd week in September before the fountain is on...and that's assuming the well work is done correctly and everything works. Rec & Parks may have more information on this process, but that's what we know for sure right now.
Will continue to update as any news comes in. Thanks.Posted 8 months ago # -
