just wandering, were they planning on growing the lilly pads year after year like before? I really liked those.
I believe the lily pads were planted as an act of guerrilla gardening :D

While they do look nice, those lily can wreak havoc on pond pumps, overflows, skimmers etc.
Put the pepsi down before you read this. I don't want to burn your sinuses.
Ok. Looks like a log cabin republican wedding cake to me. ; - p
...aaaand it's leaking again...awesome
Well, shit.
What else can be done, aside from scrapping the pond and turning it into a pond grave adorned with flowers? The gravestone is already installed at least.
drain it and turn it into a mini skate park?
Move Comfest to within the confines of the pond?
Glad I got my wedding pictures done there when I did... 3 years ago.
It's been so long.. maybe they can sell the fountain to an unsuspecting city and use the money to completely tear and and rebuild the pound with the old fountain.
Time to call in Holmes on Homes....
haha,, i would love to see that episode.
Fill the pond in, make an ice skating rink, at $5 per ticket to skate, about 30,000 -45,000 tickets later the city makes their money back. Not sure how many years that would take.
This started out as a nice privately funded project, turned for the worst with the tax payers pitching in several times the cost of the original project. Most people could care less about the cost. Similar to other downtown projects.
Update from WOSU reporting that the pond has stabilized but now they need to upgrade the well before the fountain can operate.

Refilled pond at Goodale Park holding water
By Pamela Engel
The Columbus Dispatch Thursday July 12, 2012 6:16 AM
After 10 frustrating months of ruined weddings, spoiled photographs and finger-pointing, the leaky pond at Goodale Park seems to be holding water.
“It was embarrassing that it was drained for as long as it was,” said Jacob Sternberg, a 37-year-old banker who lives nearby and visits the park a few times a week.
...
On Tuesday afternoon, the water level was several inches below the top edge of the pond. The recent heat caused some water to evaporate, Leist said.

you have to be kidding me ...... this crap frustrates me to no end ... if they catch who did this, these people need to work to pay back every penny it takes to fix it.
Goodale Park Fountain Vandalized
July 17, 2012

There was just too much good news for the Goodale Park pond and fountain. Just a week after it looked like the months-long fiasco over leaks in the pond had been plugged, the new fountain has been vandalized. Friends of Goodale Park President Jason Kentner says group members had a meeting in the park Monday night and there wasn’t any graffiti.

I don't see what the stink is all about. I thought the High Net Worth Zone signs were funny and I think this is funny and appropriate for being sprayed on a big stupid wedding cake topped by elephants known for their memory.
Sucks for whoever has to go out there and clean it though..
