Police: Bouncer charged after patron pushed, injured
A Lucky Lounge employee was charged with aggravated assault Saturday night after being accused of pushing a customer onto a concrete staircase, according to an arrest affidavit.
The affidavit said 28-year-old Kenneth Blank was one of several bouncers escorting Kyle Cox outside the bar on West Fifth Street about midnight Saturday.
It says Cox was being "corralled to the back door of the bar as he walked backwards." Cox was then pushed onto a concrete flight of stairs, where he hit his head and was knocked unconscious, officials said. He was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge, where he was told he had a subdural hematoma, or bleeding in his brain, and had a laceration on his head, the affidavit said.
It also said surveillance video from the bar showed Blank pushing Cox outside with both hands.
Blank was not in police custody Sunday night. His bail was set at $10,000. If convicted, Blank could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
