Boehner blasted by Catholic leaders for backing budget plan

In a letter to [House Speaker John Boehner] -- signed by more than 70 Catholic university professors, priests and sisters from across the country -- the Catholic leaders charged that Boehner's "voting record is at variance from one of the Church's most ancient moral teachings:' to help the poor.''
...the authors wrote that the GOP budget "invokes the deficit to justify visiting such hardship upon the vulnerable, while it carves out $3 trillion in new tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy.''
