They could have benefited from a little more practicing although the lady in the green jacket is rocking it.

Uhhh....
First breakfast, then protest at Bob EvansGet the Flash Video
Friday, March 18, 2011
BY TRACY TURNER
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Call it an "eat first and protest second" flash mob. With the Britney Spears song Hit M e Baby One More Time blaring from a boombox, a group of protesters erupted into song on cue at a Bob Evans restaurant yesterday in objection to the Columbus-based company's decision to move its headquarters to New Albany from the city's South Side.

I was thinking, "There couldn't be a protest going on at a Bob Evans, could there? Nah." so I just kept driving. Sure enough there was.

I am sure some of the people who live in that area they are going too will be glad to take those low end jobs though right?FROM HERE: http://www.thisweeknews.com/live/content/newalbany/stories/2011/03/16/bob-evans-move-is-boon-for-village.html?sid=104
Employees are estimated to retain an average salary of $65,000 annually.
Maybe that's a "low end job" for New Albany standards, but not a bad job overall. Probably hard for many to walk away from, even if it does mean an extra 30-40 miles added on to a daily commute.I'm never really sure how meaningful a company-wide average salary is. I would think the CEO and top-level management pull the average up to where it's not very descriptive of the majority of salaries of Bob Evans employees.

I love these groups like ProgressOhio; what a crack up. They claim to be fighting for the middle income American, but when it comes to their protests, who do they "pay" to do them? Generally homeless people picked up at Faith Mission. And people are surprised that the “flash mob†didn’t go off too well? I guess it’s what you get for paying $5 and a free breakfast to these “concerned middle income residentsâ€Â
Same is true of the union protesters that were outside of a few downtown job sites a few years ago. What a contradiction and joke.

Watching the "protest video" I can't help but to think....
Rome. Is. Burning.

I think they might have gotten more notice at the restaurant location next door to the S. High corporate office..??

This is a trivial question, but is the headquarters going to be in Licking County or Franklin County? The Dispatch said Licking, but its stepchild paper ThisWeekNews said it's going to be on the Franklin County side of the line.

Bob Evans Under Fire For What Kasich Calls 'Shabby Benefits'
By MIKE BOWERSOCK
Published: April 21, 2011Governor John Kasich opened a can of worms when he said a waitress at a Bob Evans restaurant had no pension and if she had any benefits they were shabby at best.
About 15 protestors stood in front of a Bob Evans on Riverside Drive in Upper Arlington Thursday, using Kasich's words to protest the Ohio-based company and its treatment of employees.

It is pretty cool that Bob Evan's wait staff can participate in 401k and medical insurance plans. I think I would be willing to pay a bit more if I knew a restaurant was giving some benefits to its employees. I wonder what some of the more popular local restaurants offer.

Wal-Mart and McDs both offer medical insurance that, IIRC, was either unaffordable or covered so little as to make more sense to put the money in a savings account.
ETA: I'm referring to most companies with large percentage of low-wage employees

A friend of mine was working for a call center that offered medical coverage UP TO $10,000 worth of medical bills. HA! But they do "offer" the plan to their employees.

Why not protest with your wallet (as well as a voting booth) and encourage others to do so as well? You can always give your breakfast dollars to anyone on the website below. It's probably local, family owned and AWESOME!

Corna Kokosing Construction Breaks Ground On New Bob Evans Headquarters
COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 9, 2012Mark Corna, president of Corna Kokosing, says construction is under way for a new $31 million headquarters for Bob Evans Farms Inc. in New Albany. "We are absolutely delighted, as another central Ohio family business, to be involved with Bob Evans," Corna said.
Corna said the project is a mix of traditional and futuristic design. Keeping its traditional roots, the new campus will sit on 40 acres of farmland as a modern version of a barn building. The project aims to raise the bar in terms of environmental friendliness. The goal of the Corna Kokosing team is to create a headquarters that will earn Gold LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, one of the highest environmental construction certifications in the country.
